If sex is removed from the picture, what is the difference between a romantic relationship and friendship?

Marriage involves a promise, so that is one difference with friendship. But, if neither party is interested in sex, is it possible a relationship could be more than friendship? Or, is sex the only thing that makes marriage different than friendship? Does it make any sense to get married if sex is not a factor? Where is the line that separates the two?

You don't think every married couple is having sex do you? The books and talk shows are filled with married people who aren't having sex. Sometimes health is an issue, Marriage is about committing to one person - no where in the vows does it mention sex. Love Honor and Cherish, Care for in sickness and health etc etc

Marriage is about committment and legal issues that unmarried people don't get to share, you know it changes your next of kin.
